At Pacifique, we’re dedicated to bringing that extra something to your life. In pursuit of that, we’re also concerned about sustainable development, that is, doing our bit for the environment and making the world a better place for all of us.
Pacifique was recently accepted to join Suomen Ekoyrittäjät ry (Ecological entrepreneurs of Finland) which is an organization aiming at promoting and developing ecologically responsible entrepreneurship among small and middle-sized companies in Finland. Members of the organization are committed to a list of ecological and ethical principles of corporate social responsibility.
At Pacifique, we have paid particular attention to ecological and ethical issues for several years already, but the membership is a great motivator for us in our continuous fight for a better world. Sounds like a cliché? What does this mean in real life, on the very salon floor?
To give a few examples: whenever possible, we prefer products that are ecological and natural. We have considerably reduced the use of disposable supplies and materials and opted for reusable towels and other materials instead. All the laundry the salon generates is being washed with 100% ecological soap nuts and we use biodegradable washing detergent for our dishes. The electricity used at Pacifique is produced by wind power. Furthermore, we carefully sort out all of our packaging waste and regularly send old but still usable hair dressing supplies to developing countries thus supporting local entrepreneurs; we have a foster school in Hosaina, Ethiopia, where deaf youth can study to earn their hair styling degree.
We also support the Association of Promoting Fairtrade in Finland – all the coffee served at the salon is Fair Trade – and donate to the WWF to help save the rain forests.
